What Causes Swollen Face While Treating Pneumonia?

My 5 year old had microplasmy (sp)? pneumonia 3 weeks ago. He s bee off antibiotic for a week now. This really exacerbated his eczema. It won t seem to heal. His face especially. It s cracking, his whole scalp is sluffing, his face swells and he gets flushed. I m concerned he is having a prolonger allergic reaction to something.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

He may need a dermatologist review to rule out drug eruptions however sometimes pneumonia related rash may also appear. He may need topical steroids application like with Momitasone etc. Oral anti histamines may also be needed along.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
