Suggest Treatment For Pneumonia And Loss Of Appetite

patient reports loss of appetite, diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs, is elderly and has 5 pound weight gain, fever is present, sputum is yellow, and green large amounts. I believe she is dehydrated, but her weight gain tells me otherwise? Also I am not sure if pneumonia causes ineffective airway clearance, impaired gas exchange or both??

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pneumonia and loss of appetite which is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection, due to poor immunity of body and high susceptibility and prone to infections.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. Avoid taking cold beverages. You should consult pulmonologist without any delay and get blood test, throat swab test and x ray of the chest done. Go for complete blood count and platelet count to rule out any hidden systemic pathology and start treatment as per prescription. For now do warm saline rinses .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes,
