What Causes Swelling In The Face And Lower Extremities? I Have Elevated Blood Pressure And Cholesterol.
Dr/ Grief. I have had a problem with swelling in my face and my lower extremities. I have spoken to my doctor about it ,and he has taken tests on me , but the results of the tests on my heart do not show any problems with my heart. I have to take everyday 10 milligrams of Enalapril. and that seems to help me. My cholesterol is slightly elevated and my blood pressure. I have been under a tremendous amount of stress for years. Do you have any advice that you could give me?
Hi! I had gone through your query and understand your cocern. If I were your treating doctor I would first ruled out 2 possibilities before saying that everything is ok: -The first thing is to rule out heart disease, conditions that can cause heart failure which leads to edemas in lower extremities. -Second I would ruled out kidney disease .This can be done by doing a urine test measuring the albumin in it.The presence of a high level of albumin in your urine suggest you have kidney problems and this is the cause of extremities and face swelling.
Hope I was able to help you. Take care. Dr.Rovena
