What Causes Swelling Above Right Testicle On The Spermatic Cord?

I have a small swelling (about 1/2 diameter) just above the right testicle on the spermatic cord (near, almost touching the testicle). It is quite soft, is not painful, and causes no discomfort whatsoever. I suspect it has been there for some time but I only noticed it recently. There is nothing comparable on the left testicle. Should it be a concern?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Noted your history of a small swelling just above the right testicle on the spermatic cord which is not painful, soft and no discomfort.
The commonest cause is cyst or a lipoma of the cord. Rarely can be a cyst of the epididymis.
This can be diagnosed well by an ultrasonography with color doppler examination.
If this is a cyst or a lipoma, it is better to get this removed by surgery as it may gradually grow to an alarming level.
This will benefit you by two means:
The mass which is not a normal part of the body is removed and secondly you get a confirmed historpathology diagnosis and relaxation that nothing is serious.
