It is the inflammation of a bursa i.e., a structure that prevents any friction occuring between your soft tissues and bone. This is located in the hip region. This condition maybe caused due to a physical trauma or due to wear and tear of old age. Treatment includes rest, application of ice pack, pain killers, physiotherapy and in acute cases, injection of steroids along with a local anaesthetic right into the joint.
