Hallow Dear,

Immediately after periods, pregnancy is rather very remote possibility. You will realise this when you understand the Fertility Window and ovulation.

Ovulation is egg release from the ovary which happens 14 days prior to the next expected menses. The egg has a life of 24 hours while the sperms are active for 72 hours. Hence a period of about a week around the day of egg release is considered as Fertile Period. The rest of the days in the menstrual cycle fall in the safe period (though following safe period is never recommended as reliable method of birth control).

Though you have not mentioned the periodicity of your cycle, I will presume it to be of 30 days for the purpose of calculations. If there is some difference, you may apply it to the dates I am calculating.

Your periods started on 30th of July, meaning thereby that your next expected period would have been on 29 August. Thus your day of egg release would have been 16 August and the Fertile Period would be 12 August to 20 August. If you had unprotected intercourse during this period, there is a good possibility that you could be pregnant.

However, a few days away from this period does not rule out the possibility of pregnancy cent per cent. Hence let us consider your symptoms. Heaviness and tenderness in the breasts is a symptom of pregnancy no doubt. The first cardinal symptom of early pregnancy is missing a period. You are doubt about whether you have missed your period or not due to scanty spotting. Slight bleeding around the days of expected menses is known occasionally during early months of pregnancy. This was previously known as placental sign.

All other symptoms like nausea & vomiting, frequent urination and breast symptoms appear about a week or 10 days later. So this soreness in the breasts could be due to early pregnancy.

Since your menses are delayed upto 10 August, perform pregnancy test on the overnight first urine sample. This should give you reliable evidence of pregnancy status. It is advisable to rely on pregnancy test results at this time.

I hope this helps you today.
