What Causes Sore Throat, Bruised Neck And Swollen Tonsil?

My name is Daniel I have a sore throat just on the right side my tonsil just on this side is swollen and it feels like my neck on this side is bruised the bruised feeling runs along what I m guessing is a tendon from my jaw to my clavicle with the most discomfort being at the top of this assumed tendon and on my tonsil... what could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for sharing your query on Healthcaremagic, I have carefully worked through your case and probably you have a viral tonsillitis and your neck bruise could be a lymph node( they defend against infection) I advice you to do some warm/salt with honey gargle and take some anti-inflammatory pills 2/times day per 5-7 days, if the symptoms persist or getting worse( fever, pain or exudates) you need go to the doctor for an evaluation. I hope that my advice has been helpful, take care
