Hello, I recently went to sick call on base for a sore throat and persistent fever that started occuring over the past 48 hours. Over the course of the day, I have noticed trace amounts of blood in my mucus as I cough it up. Strep throat was ruled out as part of my examination this morning. I am a smoker, but haven t been sick in well over a year.
Your symptoms seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the fever.
I also suggest using a mucolytic syrup to treat the cough. If the symptoms continue, I suggest to start a prescription antibiotic such as Azithromycin one tablet a day for three days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
