Hi,

The soreness in muscles after drinking alcohol is due to the build up of lactic acid in the muscles. It is worse when people are dehydrated and is relieved by taking alcoholic fluids. The burning in chest and throat is due to the irritation of the lining of the food pipe by alcohol and the reflux of acid from the stomach to the food pipe. Both these problems can be minimised if you take some food and water before you start drinking. Also cut down the amount of alcohol that you take at a time.

Best wishes.
