What Causes Sore Breasts While On Mirena IUD?

Hello, My breasts have been very sore for the past 4 days. I m on Mirena IUD and my cycle is currently mesed up as I was on antibiotics 4 weeks ago and got my period twice (second one only lasted a day and a half so not actually sure it was a period). Now I m not sure when my period is due. Pregnancy test was negative but I m worried I took it too early. Can I be pregnant?

It would have been more helpful to guide you if you had informed how much time has elapsed after insertion of Mirena. If you have recently got this IUD, it is usual to find some vaginal bleeding or spotting when you are not having periods and sore breast. It may last for up to 6 weeks and then disappear slowly as you get adapted to the IUD. You should expect your period depending on the last full menstrual cycle date. If you start experiencing intense pain, bleeding that does not stop, vaginal discharge that smells or fever like symptoms, you should consult a gynecologist to look for possible presence of infection due to Mirena IUD.

As you are having IUD, chances of pregnancy are nil. However, if you want to confirm, you can take a home pregnancy urine test.
