What Causes Severe Sneezing Post Dental Procedure?

Yesterday I had a dental procedure where they used intramuscular midazolam to sedate me. I have been sneezing uncontrollably for the past 14 hours. The first I remember as I was coming out of the sedation. I have googled and it seems this is not an unusual reaction. My question is how long may I expect this to last and is there anything I can do about it. My nose is bleeding slightly from the constant irritation of sneezing.
Thank you.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain sneezing after sedation and dental procedure can occur due to allergic reaction to not only midazolam but also due to other medications and liquids used during the dental procedure.

Any of them can cause allergic reaction and irritation to nasal mucosa can lead to excessive sneezing..

I would be a little less convinced that midazolam could be the culprit as the doctor would have done an allergic reaction test on you before sedation but in case if not done it can be a cause..

I would suggest you to consult your dentist and get evaluated..

In case of allergic reaction antihistamines like allegra or benadryl taken oral and antihistamine nasal sprays lke Astelin can be relieving..

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
