Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am experiencing pain where the soft palate meets the hard palate. Last night it was on the left side now its on the right accompanied by a pink swollen spot.
Ive been sick for about 2 months. Initially diagnosed with bronchitis i was given a zpack. I went back to the doctor last week and they diagnosed the continued coughing as allergy induced asthma. Ive been using Symbicort and flonase for the past week.
Ive had my tonsils out about 6 years ago as an adult, but this sudden pain is worse than any sore throat i had experienced in the past.
It looks like there is infection over the palate and the pink spot is either due to an inflamed minor salivary gland or it can also be an abscess formation secondary to infection.. So my suggestion is to consult an Oral or ENT physician and get evaluated so that a clinical examination can be done and if infection is suspected an oral and throat swab culture can be done to rule out the exact strain of bacteria and appropriate antibiotics can be advised.. As of now take NSAID'S like Ibuprofen to relieve pain and inflammation and along with it gargle with magic mouthwash or other mouthwashes that contains numbing ingredients like Lignocaine. Take soft and semi sold meals..
Hope this information helps.. Regards.
