What Causes Severe Pain In The Back?

Hi, i was doing grocery deleveries this past sunday and it seems like i pulled something in my back. The pain got worse as the week went one but instead of being the general pain it started to be, it is now a localized pain and is really only painful while in a specific position (ie. laying flat on my back, getting in to my car). Is there something you reccomend or shall i have it checked out?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concernew.
Pain in the lower back may be linked to the bony lumbar spine, discs between the vertebrae, ligaments around the spine and discs, spinal cord and nerves, lower back muscles and the skin around the lumbar area.
In your case I think it is more related to the back muscles. To diagnose you may need other analysis such as X-rays, MRIs etc
Some advices that I can give to you are :
-Ice your back to reduce pain and swelling as soon as you injure yourself.
-Apply heat to your back -- but only after 2-3 days of icing it first
-Take painkillers like Advil, Aleve, or Motrin, will help with lower back pain.
-Maintain good muscle tone in your abdominal and lower back muscles.
-see a doctor if it doesn't get better,.Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
I find this answer helpful
