What Causes Severe Pain During Intercourse?

Hi, I recently got married and became sexually active. . Although I ve always heard that penetration will always hurt at first.. mine has been an 8/mo long struggle and the pain is as sharp and acute as the first day. I had been to a gynacologist before my wedding for a pap smear and before we could do that she examined me and discovered my septate hymen and suggested i get it snipped for a papsmear and eventuallt to be sexually active without pain. However I left it alone then.. My husband and I don t use protection and haven t gotten pregnant despite of trying each month after my regular periods however there s no sign of it and all I have is pain during sex and an increase in cramps before, during and after my periods... I have also noticed little small bumps that appear during my period on/in my inner vulva and become extremely itchy but they go away once my period is gone.. I have also recently started noticing a little bit of a protrusion in between my left outer vulva and inner vulva and another tiny round one under my left inner vulva.. and when I try to examine the insides myself I have been noticing a weird fullness/tightness inside my vaginal opening as if there were several lumps (this I have noticed recently after becoming sexually active). I am scared that my septate hymen is gettin stretched nut not breaking hence damaging my vaginal wall and maybe forming cysts now. I cant figure out a different reason for the slight protrusion outside and lumps inside. After all these very clear and TMI details. Please guide me as to what I m thinking and what might really be happening.. I do end up diagnosing my self through online research so I might just be paranoid.. but with my details what do you suggest is up with me?

Sexologist 's  Response
Hello
I think you have got a chronic yeast infection , causing vaginismus or even vulvodynia. I doubt if a septate hymen can be responsible for your problem. Please consult a sexologist immediately for help . Online consultation is available on www.vivanhospital.com Never ever try to diagnose your self by net , it can be really dangerous.

You have a very nice observation which you have mentioned in your history.
The reason for your pain during intercourse, in fact it seems to be at the insertion, which seems to be due to the bumps you have mentioned at the vulva appearing with the start of menses and then disappearing.
These bumps seem to be the infected Bartholin's glands. These Bartholin's glands are situated in the vulva just inside the lips near the vaginal outlet. When they get infected, they swell causing pain. Usually they form abscess. This infection increases during menses due to the presence of blood which is a good culture for organisms.
When the abscesses are formed, they need to be incised and the edges need to be everted (marsupialization).
These Bartholis abscesses or infections are very painful and seem to be the most like cause of your painful insertion during intercourse.
Please get a Gynaecologist's opinion. If needed, get the surgery done. It is a minor surgery. Continuation of antibiotics post surgery is the key to get completely cured.
Also, please ask your partner to get checked from a venerologist for the probable source of infection he may be harbouring. The most common source of this infection is sexual route. If he is also infected, get him also treated with proper antibiotics SIMULTANEOUSELY.
