What Causes Severe Depression After Starting Levest Contraceptive Pill?

I have been on the contraceptive pill (Levest) for two months now following a year and a half break in taking it. I have previously suffered from relatively severe depression but had generally learnt to deal with it and it was no longer influencing my daily life, however I have noticed that since starting to take the pill again it has become much worse again to the point where I am unable to get out of bed some days and have considered self harm. Is this likely to be a coincidence/something that will settle down once my body has got used to the pill or do you think it would e worth making a change? Thanks x

Hi,
I understand your query.
Levest is a combined contraceptive pill. It is known to cause depression by lowering down serotonin.
How ever you had an experience of adjusting with the depression during last use- You can wait for few day to symptoms to disappear & start applying your experienced tacts to over rule it.
But in case you go to the extent of self harming, I would suggest you to go for Low hormonal dose contraceptives/ Use IUD for contraception.
