What Causes Severe Cough After Returning From A Long Journey?

72 years old just returned from a very long flight from Uganda to North Carolina 4 days ago. This morning started to have coughing spells which got worse as the day progressed. Temperature is stable at 99 Farenheight. I have been taking Malerone daily during and after the trip.

Hi i do care for your concern.
Your history suggest more of normal flu.
The drugs that you are taking is for malaria and it is advisable to complete the course.
I would suggest to add paracetamol for fever and warm water for drinking.
Need not panic as the condition will resolve within days.
If the symptoms do persist it is advisable to consult your physician and get blood workup done before starting any treatment.
