What Causes Severe Anxiety After Taking Levothyroxine?
I was on 125 mcg levothyroxine so I took 25 mcg instead for 4 days checked TSH levels and all is good should I stay on 25 or go back to 125mcg I had racing heart & nervousness & couldn't sleep & anxiety and my eyes felt strange since I take less I feel better just a little cough when I breathe in hard I, mot sure what to d0
Since you checked after 4 days of dose adjustment it is not a good reflection of the thyroid function while on the new dose. The TSH level is a reflection of thyroid level when you were on the 125 mcg of levothyroxine. Since you developed hyperthyroid symptoms while on 125 mcg of levothyroxine, dose reduction is definitely needed. However, reducing the dose to 25 mcg might be too much reduction. I would recommend that you take 100 mcg of levothyroxine and watch closely for any symptoms of hypo/hyperthyroidism.Also, check TSH, Free t3, and t4 levels after 6 weeks.
