What Causes Severe Adrenaline Rush After Eating Carbohydrates?

What could cause a severe adrenaline rush after eating carbohydrates when there is no low sugar level recorded?
I have slowly lost the ability to eat carbohydrates. I now have severe adrenline rushes within 20 minutes of eating. Never had surgery and don't have any pain when eating. Seems lik my body is trying to prevent a drop in sugar.
Just 20 minutes for my heart to race and body to tremble. It's been progressive - started at 4 hour intervals and now down to only 20 minutes over the past 5 years. I can't even handle less than 1g of carbs.

The feeling you are experiencing may result from a rapid change in blood sugar not requiring the sugar to be low enough to be labeled as hypoglycemic, but just the slide is enough to cause similar symptoms. If I were your physician I would order a glucose tolerance test to look at the blood sugar curves after administration of a standardized glucose amount and go from there. I might also look at your insulin sensitivity, HbA1C.. . Now, you must be getting more than 1 gram of carbohydrate because you are alert enough to write this question. The brain needs 130 g of carbohydrate or 520 calories of pure carbohydrate to keep functioning. Since you are not in a coma, you must be consuming carbohydrates. I hope my suggestions above work and you can begin to unravel how to fix your symptoms. Here's to Good Nutrition! Sincerely, Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
