ive been sick for 5 days now, it started with me waking up with a cough at my friends house and ever since then i have been sick. I had bowel movements for a couple of days after i woke up with the cough. Yesterday at night i had a fever of 103 and today at school i think i had another fever and went home. Now one of my ears are ringing. WHen i hold my nose to try and push air through my ears my right ear lets out air but my left on doesnt. I pushed so hard it made me sort of dizzy so i think thiers somehting wrong with my left ear. its been ringing for a few hours now and hurts. I still have the cough. My sinuses are not clogged up i can breath fine and dont have a runny nose. What is wrong with me?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms are suggestive of the following:
- Coughing means there is inflammation and may be an infection in the respiratory tract
- Blowing the nose caused the nasal fluid to go through the left eustachian tube into the middle ear cavity of left ear
- This develops fluid build-up and thus cause blockage, pain and the inflammation and ringing

I would advise you the following:
- Do not blow nose again
- Take an oral and nasal decongestant
- Oral anti-inflammatory medicines
- Consult your Doctor and get an additional prescription say for antibiotic after careful clinical evaluation, examination
- Second opinion of an ENT Surgeon for further evaluation and added treatment as needed

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
