What Causes Red Patches On The Body?

I have raised red patches that sometimes itch, sometimes don t. They are in various places on the whole body basically. The doctor gave me prednisone and told me to use cetaphil lotion all over twice a day. It all got better, then came back. I used an old steroid cream, triamcinolone acetonide and the cetaphil, and it went away again. Now have some again, plus skin reddens and goes away sometimes almost instantly in various places on my body. Any idea whats happening?

Hi,

These red patches could be fungal/ allergic in nature which needs to be found out. The steroidal creams will only temporarily decrease the intensity. The patches keep coming back is because the cause has not yet been treated.

I'm fine with you using the Cetaphil but rest you must stop. Please visit a dermatologist for a thorough evaluation of these lesions. If need be the doctor could even do a skin biopsy to know exactly what these lesions are.
