What Causes Raw Inner Lower Lip?

I woke up with a raw inner lower lip last week...it hurt pressing up against my teeth but slowly started to heal. As it did, little white areas showed up on top of the raw area (I guess it's the healing part). Doesn't look like herpes or canker sores, and I don't remember biting my lip but it hurt terribly. My boyfriend also woke up with the same thing on his inner lower and upper lips...

hello thanks for consulting at hcm..it could have resulted by secondary to trauma, lip biting or from tooth brush trauma,,you could in the mean time blow air with your mouth closed, so that mucosa doesnt touch the teeth surface,,you could apply topical anesthetics for pain relief..i suggest you consult a oral physician for a check up and treatment..hope it helps and take care..
