What Causes Rapid Pulse Rate With Nasal Mucus?

I'm doing research for a friend who has the following symptoms:
- Rapid pulse and heart constrictions after drinking alcohol, drinking caffeine, mild exercise, or stress (he thinks that it may be similar to vein constriction, but in the heart).
-Nasal mucous that smells like vinegar or dirty feet

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your question, I would explain that it is normal to have a rapid pulse in the situations that you describe.

It happens to every normal person to have a more rapid pulse in these situations, which activate (physiological pathways) the release in the blood of chatecholamines (adrenaline and noradrenaline), which are responsible for a higher heart rate.

So there is nothing to worry about.

Regarding the nasal mucous with a bad smell, it may be a chronic infection (even a sinus infection).

I recommend consulting with the ENT specialist for a careful examination and a nasal mucous bacterial culture, to establish the diagnosis.

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask any other questions, whenever you need!

Best regards,

Dr. Iliri
