What Causes Persistent Loose Motion After Taking Augmentin?

Hello, I had a throat infection. I took augmentin 625 after consulting a doctor. After completion of the dose (5 days, 10 tab), I am having loose motion (it is not pure-watery like in dirrohea, semi-liquid), everyday 4-5 times I have to go to loo (call of nature is a bit emergency in nature ). I took 1 norfloxacin and tinidazole tab and it stopped for 1 day. It started again. Is it because good bacteria got killed ? Please advise what to take for treatment...thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you are taking an antibiotic, the medication will cause a mild change in your population of intestinal bacteria that may cause diarrhea for a few days.
Some advices that I can give to you are:
-take over the counter option like Imodium
-take probiotics
-drink liquids
-avoid spicy foods

Hope my answer was helpful. If you have any other question I’ll be glad to help.

Regards,
