What Causes Persistent Cough In An Elderly Person?
i have had a consistant cough for some time. I have had chest x-ray which showed up nothing. I take the following medications could any of these cause coughing? Bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg, Atenolol 50mg, Cyanobalamin 5o micrograms, and Losartan potassium 12.5mg. I also take Asprin 75mg. I am a woman who was 82 years old today?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent cough and have been coughing which is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. Although you taking so much of medication and not getting benefitted. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Avoid giving cold beverages. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or virus culture test. You should get an redone x ray of the chest. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for 10 days along with mucolytic agents. Go for complete blood count. You should take mast cell stabilizers to prevent from infection. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. For now do warm saline rinses , take rest.
