What Causes Persistent Cold And Chest Congestion?
I have a persistent cold/flu with deep chest congestion and wheezy, painful cough. Seems to be getting better slowly, b ut suddenly I have a new & seemingly unrelated symptom--an itchy rash on my chest and abdomen, with raised pink bumps that form small scabs. I ve developed maybe 10 or 12 of these bumps, in the last day. I m at YYYY@YYYY and looking forward to any thoughts you may have. Thanks, Mac

The eruptions over the chest sound to be an allergic reaction, which may be again from primary viral or bacterial infection or some of the OTC medicines consumed for cold and chest congestion.
My recommendations at present keep the chest area clean, dry and prefer cotton clothes, avoid excess sun exposure, local application of lavender talc helps great soothing, deep breathing exercises with tincture benzoin inhalation, honey, turmeric and tulsi as herbal supporters.
Avoid smoking if consuming, get prescription of necessary antibiotic as doxycycline, decongestant as chlorpheniramine maleate, dextromethorphan from your doctor.
The use of steroids depends upon the clinical severity and clinician choice.
