What Causes Painful Purple Bruise And Swelling On Thumb?

Two weeks ago my left thumb hurt suddenly, like I had been stung or bitten, was red and eventually turned purple like a bruise which lasted for about 24 hours. I had no issue for about 9 days and then it happened again. I went to an urgent care where the dr took an x ray and saw nothing. The bruise-like coloration faded over 3 days, however I still have a dull, achy pain and my thumb is a bit swollen. I did not injure my thumb prior to either incident. It has now been four days since the second incident.

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I can understand your problem this is double jeopardy, chances of infection is likely right now the swelling can be managed with the anti inflammatory drug and the best choice is Tab Ibuprofen 400 mg three time if abscess formed then this need to be drained with the administration of antibiotic, take care hope this information helps you have nice day.
