What Causes Pain On Sides Of Ankle And Foot After A Back Surgery?

Hello,
I had major back surgery(my 3rd) in mid October for multi-level disc herniations. The pain was predominantly down the right leg. Now post-surgery the pain is primarily shooting down my left calf to my foot primarily on both sides of my ankle and foot area, which is very painful. Are there nerve endings in that location, and what possibilities could this be? I am aware the news is not going to be good.

Thank You,

Rick Walker

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi
Before commenting anything about your surgical procedure you should get mri spine done lower spine with whole spine screening. It will clearly show soft tissue status and compression of nerve doots if so which may be the reason for your pain.
After the mri report you should consult your spine surgeon.
Get well soon.
Thank you.
