What Causes Pain In The Stomach And Vomiting After Taking The Second Dose Of Nordette?

I ve taken the recommended dosage of the Nordette 21 as an ECP (4 pills then another 4 pills after 12hrs. Done within 120hrs after having unprotected intercourse). After taking the second dose I felt pain in my stomach and then my vomit has blood. What is it and what should I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Hormonal pills can cause severe acid reflux and gastritis and can cause symptoms as you have described.

Always try to take the hormonal pills after food and never take it in the empty stomach.

You can take over the counter antacid-antiemetic combination like pantoprazole-domeperidone for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
