What Causes Pain In The Arms After Inserting Metal Plates?

my husband had surgery on his right arm due to a car accident about 6 years ago. he has metal plates inside and they don t usually hurt unless he lift something really heave. The last 3 days he has developed a pain right on that arm and he hasn t lift anything heavy. My question is, could it be the actual plates? what could cause this pain? could it be an infection?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to inflammatory pain after the procedure. Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself. As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
