General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It can be a sign of nerve damage during surgery but for reassurance you should get him reviewed by a neurosurgeon and may need to have nerve conduction studies and detailed local sensory and motor nervous system examination. For pain using OTC analgesic like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen alongside Gabapentin can be helpful.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
