My opinion- In the given situation-Your son seem to suffer from-Head Contusion with Temporo-Mandible joint Contusion with painful jaw movements. There is no nausea/vomiting,blurred vision/or ear-nose bleeding/ no history of loss of memory. So you need not worry.But observation for 48 hrs if any of these complaints is advised.If any rise in complaints occurs,you need to Consult ER Surgeon and get -X-ray Skull Done if need be. The pain and bruising is from tissue contusion from hit in the side of head and in jaw joint. Do s Suggested- Anti-inflammation-medicines like Motrin 1 x 2 times per day with Voltaren gel /with hot fomentation-would take care of bruise and pain in head.
