What Causes Pain And Constriction In Throat While Smoking?
I used to smoke full time but stopped about two months ago. Now whenever I have the odd cigarette, my throat really hurts and feels quite enclosed. Also my tonsils get bigger, especially my right tonsil. I'm not sure what this is from, please could you help me? Thank you.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pain and constriction in throat while smoking which is mainly because it is highly irritating to lining of respiratory tract. It causes damage of cilia and leads to severe throat pain and dryness in throat. Need not to worry much. I would suggest you to stop smoking on frequent basis and if ever you take monitor dosage of smoke. Do warm saline gargles on daily basis. Use betadine rinses to clear throat. Avoid taking sharp, spicy food and extreme cold substances. Gargling with silver hydrosol will help you alot. Keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water and fluids. Take antibiotics such as Augmentin for 5 days. You should visit ENT specialist once if it keeps on hurting and go for laryngoscopy to examine inner mucosa. Start treatment after complete examination.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
