What Causes Open Sores On Penis?

I noticed on my husband that he has open sores on his penis, he says it is chafing from rubbing... This has never happened before, and I have suspected cheating for a while, I was just wondering if this is an std? It doesn t look like chafing because it is open sore, can you help?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Recurrent fungal infection or eczema can be the reason. This can be due to irritation from clothing or chemicals like soaps he is using. Avoid soaps and irritants to wash the genital area and instead you can use saline or warm water. Use mild detergents for washing under garments also. For such condition If he is my patient I would suggest ointments containing combination of antifungal agents like miconazole, anti bacterial like gentamycin and corticosteroid like beclamethasone for local application.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
