What Causes Numbness In The Hands And Migraine Headache?

An mri showing cord contact around c5 and c6 and several impingements was taken in 2008 and I have recently been having renewed pain again along with migraines, nerve numbness in hands and joint pain (almost as if I broke the finger). Concerned about insurance hoops because now going back to xrays of the back to help get a new mri of entire back approved . Any suggestions on how to reduce migraines and pain in the meantime and waiting game?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Nerve compression related numbness is concern with cervical spondylosis of much significant extent.

Till the time for a new MRI, I would suggest

- heating pad application over the nape of the neck
- support with cervical collar (best method to reduce current compression and further symptomatic progress)
- analgesic as diclofenac or paracetamol if no history of drug sensitivity
- high dose methylcobalamin as Neurobion or other neuronal medications
- avoid sudden strenuous movements of the cervical spine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
