General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM.
Currently, pandemic of swine flu is going on. Your symptoms of fever, sore throat, head ache, running nose, etc are suggestive of swine flu if you are living in area where swine flu cases are being reported. Looking at your age and history of diabetes, you would be put in category B2 of swine flu case category. Management of B2 category is done by giving antiviral drug Oseltamivir, chest x-ray and other routine blood investigations.
If you are living in area where swine flu case are not reported then there is possibility of infection due to other virus.
You should take paracetamol for fever and do salt water gargle or gargle with chlorhexidine in 1:3 dilution with warm water. Antibiotics may be taken on doctor's advise.
Hope this will be helpful.
Do ask if any further questions are there. Take care.
