What Causes Muscle Tightness And Pain In Leg?

I have had muscle tightness and pain for over ten years. I have been to many different doctors but no one has a diagnosis yet. Just guesses. The muscles cramp much more in the winter and walking becomes very difficult. I had two muscle biopsies so far which showed abnormal muscle tissue but no diagnosis. Have already tried many medications and am on muscle relaxers. Would like a diagnosis but have not been successful yet. It is only in the legs- mostly in the calves and sides of the legs- no pain in the knee or ankle joints.

This sounds like the sciatic nerve, which can be difficult to diagnose sometimes, depending on the situation (especially since people claim to have it for reasons of obtaining Narcotic Medication) which is a shame for people like you who might NEED the medication, but are automatically labeled as "drug seekers" - Which I usually can tell the difference.

After 10 years and nothing - I would reccomend you looking into NERVES (which are the hardest thing to diagnose in my opinion) - Especially since you are talking about your leg. It is called **Sciatica** Pain caused by a compression and/or irritation of the sciatic nerve (from the lower back) resulting in numb legs, pain in the back, etc.

I don't understand why they would do a muslce biopsy before trying to do Physical Therapy and temporary synthetic-narcotic drug treatment (less than 02 months) combined with exercies before doing that. Sounds like you need to find a new doctor in my personal opinion.

Look into if you can, Nerve Damage and Problems in Nerves are the most difficult things to diagnose as you can't simply just do a "nerve biopsy" and send it off to a lab...Which makes it so challenging.

Good luck, I hope I have helped in this case!
