What Causes Muscle Aches After Thyroid Removal?

my thyroid was removed 18 years ago due to thyroid cancer. I within the last 6 months have been feeling the worst that I ever have. I have muscle aches so bad that I sometimes cant go to work. I also have all the usual symptoms that a hypothyroid patient has but much more severe that usual. My doctor changed my levothyoxine to nature thyroid about 6 months ago when I went on bio Te. Since then the brain fog, fatigue and muscle pain has been out of control. I asked her on Monday to refer me to an endocrinologist but she had her nurse call me to say no and that they wouldn t treat me for thyroid anymore. I am unable to get an endocrinologist to accept me without a referral do you have any suggestions that could help me with my situation?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you do some examinations like complete blood count, urea, creatinine, AST, ALT, total bilirubin level, TSH, FT3, FT4.

As you say that your problems are within the last 6 months and that corresponds to the change in medications, seems that you may need to go back to Levothyroxine use. I suggest you as soon as possible the examinations and take the right treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anila Skenderi,
