What Causes Lymphoma At Base Of Tongue And Swollen Lymph Nodes On Neck?

I may have some sort of lymphoma. I have a lesion on the base of my tongue and two large lymph nodes in my neck. My surgeon was unable to get a good sample from the lymph nodes with FNA, so he did an incisional biopsy of my tongue. The results were inconclusive. Now he is going to do an incisional biopsy with possible removal of a lymph node. Any ideas of what this could be if it isn t cancer?

Hi Dear ,

Understanding your concern.

The symptoms you mention in query ranges from simple muscles spasm to some malignant condition.

So it can also be a lymph node swelling or it can also be a mucocele , that is swelling due to blockage of salivary gland duct due to some foreign body or stone .

It is good that your doctor is diagnosing it carefully . If it will be a lymph node doctor may prescribe broad spectrum antibiotics like amoxicillin .

If it is a mucocele then the doctor will remove it surgically or perform marsupilazitation .

In case of some malignant growth doctor may recommend you chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
