What Causes Lumps On The Back Of The Head?

I have a lump on the lower left side of the back of my head that is tender to the touch. On occasions I have moved my head and there is a very tight sensation in that same area. It almost feels like a muscle cramp, but in the back of the head, that lasts a couple of minutes then subsides. Any thoughts?

General Surgeon 's  Response
As per your discription it may be a benign swelling. Confirmed diagnosis can be given after examination only. But if it is painful and creating problem then should go further evaluation. It might need surgery if it is dermoid cyst or lipoma.
