What Causes Lump Under The Skin Close To Jaw Bone?

Hello I have a little lump under the skin next to my jaw bone and 'tragus' you can't see it but it's very purple and when I pull my ear lobe the lump pops out..I have had cysts before on the back of my leg that went purple and it turned nasty to septicaemia..what could this be? I've had it for about a week.

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query . There could be many possibilities like sebaceous cyst or reactive lymph node . It could also be possible that the lump is due to blokage of duct on one of the salivary gland.

I would suggest you to consult surgeon for proper clinical examination to find out what exactly it is . Doctor may order blood test or ultra sound . He/she may prescribe antibiotics in case of lymph node and perform surgery in case of cyst .

Take ibuprofen(if not allergic) or acetaminophen for pain and inflammation.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
