Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Loss Of Consciousness And Swollen Red Bump On The Head?
Today, I fell today off a 4 wall and I hit my head on the cement driveway. I did not lose consciousness but I immediately had a swollen red bump about the size of a goose egg on right backside of my head toward the center of it. There is no visible signs of bleeding. Following the fall I had put an ice pack on the injury & the bump does not appear to be getting any larger. I am a 57 year old female with no other health concerns. Should I go to ER and have the injury checked? Please advise. Thank you.
First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, it can be superficial injury and soft tissue swelling and internal trauma is less Likely.
However, for reassurance, you can get yourself examined by your primary care physician.
If vomitings, blackouts, vertigo, etc are experienced than immediate emergency room visit is required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
