I have swelling in one of my legs from the knee down to and including the foot. it feels very large and tight like full of liquid and going to pop. it is very tender and hurts in the back of my calf. It doesn t seem to be red or hot to touch right now. i do not recall having an injury that would cause it. It has been like this for over a week now. my email is YYYY@YYYY .
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
For leg swelling physical examination should be done and following causes should be ruled out:
- Hypothyroidism by serum TSH estimation
- Liver disease by SGOT, SGPT, protein estimation
- Kidney disease by eGFR, serum urea, creatinine
- Heart failure by EKG
- CBC with peripheral smear examination
According to these investigation cause will be clear and treatment can be done accordingly. Consult physician for examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
