What Causes Inflammation And Tenderness On The Lower Leg?
My husband has the flu, fever, chills, shakes, light headed. This is day two. I noticed he has bright red discoloration on his lower leg that is tender. We just returned from Cabo San Lucas few days ago. I don t see any bug bites or scratches...... What could this be ?
It can be due to folliculitis from bacterial infection. In such a condition there can be pain, flu, chills, headache. This can affect any part of the body around hairs or hair follicles like the beard, limbs, head etc., and is very much painful.
Don't worry it will subside in a few days. You can give him antibiotics like Amoxicillin and painkillers like Diclofenac Sodium and Paracetamol. However, it increases in size it may need surgical drainage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Soheel Hussain Zargar,
