What Causes Increase In The Sugar Level Even When On Strict Diet?

My mother is a diabetic who under went CABG in 2011. She was revived after a severe MI. Post her CABG her ejection factor is 20-25%. She is leading a normal life barring severe bouts of coughs & breathlessness post some house activity. Her insulin shots was also stopped post surgery. But off late, her sugar levels her constantly on the rise, so her Doctor has restarted Huma-insulin (30-70) doses 12-0-08. But her sugar seems to be on a rise (presently it s hovering around 250+ fasting & 375+ post pandial, which is worrisome. This Inspite of her strict adherence to her diet chart. Presently she is consuming these medicines daily apart from the insulin shots : Eureka 1(3times), Januvia 50(1time), Digoxin.25(half alt days), Lasilactone(half twice), Atorvastatin 10(1time), Shelcal D500(1time), Zytinex(1time).

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear sir

I reviewed your query in detail.

What i can make out is that there is deficiency of endogenous insulin secretion which causes persistent increase in the blood sugars.

Secondly Inspite of dietary restriction of blood sugars there is endogenous production of glucose through various mechanisms like
1. Gluconeogenesis

Secondly if your blood sugars are not getting controlled what I suggest is to take basal insulin every day at bed time

Secondly diet should always be combined with physical activity atleast 150 min per week.

Thirdly add the food items such as
1. Turmeric
2. Guar gum
3. onions and garlic
4. Coriander

Which has the property to secrete insulin endogenously.

Thanks
