What Causes Inconsistencies In Periods With Bouts Of Nausea?

I have random bouts of nausea that last anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours. I am a Type 1 diabetic well-controlled, I take 1000u Vitamin D3, depo-provera, and they just started me on Meloxicam 15mg, and citalopram 20mg, though the nausea started before I started the meloxicam and the citalopram. I have VERY inconsistent periods, though they have been since I satarted getting them when i was 16. I am 20 now, and had a daughter 1 year and a 1/2 ago.

Hello,

You have history of being type 1 diabetes but well controlled, you have inconsistent periods and are having random bouts of nausea. You have been taking Depo Provera. Side effects of Depo Provera may cause nausea, loss of appetite, pain chest, menstrual changes, bone density loss, weight gain, etc. Depo-Provera commonly causes menstrual irregularities, scanty periods, no periods, delayed return of fertility, headache, mood swings, etc. You are experiencing the side effects of Depo-Provera.

You are suggested to consult your OBGYN or health care provider, you can switch to some other contraceptive device to prevent pregnancy. You have not mentioned anything about your sexual life. Avoid multiple partners and always perform protected sex. CP protects from pregnancy but not from sexually transmitted diseases. Always use condoms. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
