What Causes Hot Flashes, Weight Gain, Mood Swings?

I have both hormonal symptoms (hot flashes, weight gain, mood changes) and depression. I ve recently learned anti-depressants are sometimes prescribed for menopause issues. I m interested in one that will ADDRESS weight gain, not add to it. What do you think of Prestiq?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, I am of the opinion that you should undergo Hormonal replacement therapy with estrogen and progesterone after assessing their levels in the blood. Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is less effective than Effexor (venlafaxine) as an antidepressant.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
