i am 29 years old 6 1 and 185 lbs i went to donate plasma today and was deferred because my hear rate was at 153 what could cause it to be so high and is this normal? I would think at that high i would feel my heart beating out of my chest but i didnt feel abnormal a all.

In general, a resting heart rate over 100 beats per minute is accepted as tachycardia. Tachycardia can be caused by various factors that often are benign. However, tachycardia can be dangerous, depending on the speed and type of rhythm. Some common causes of tachycardia (>100b.p.m;varies between 100-160/minute) Exercise,Excitement/anxiety,Pain ,Fever ,Hyperthyroidism.Severe anemia.
Hi welcome to HCM. This high heart rate in your case could be asymptomatic atrial fibrillation.This will not produce any symptoms on most occasions.I advice you to have baseline EKG and a screening 2 dimensional echo to rule out organic valvular heart lesions.Drugs like digioxin will help to control the rate.Consult your cardiologist with follow up test reports.
