What Causes High Blood Pressure?

I have been monitoring my blood pressure for the last few hours - highest - 158 over 108 - average 147 - 96 - I am asthmatic and taking cholestoral lowering medication and ventolin and steroid pumps. Have been feeling fine but trying to shake off heavy cold. Woke this morning feeling very nauseous do I need to consult the doctor or is the high blood pressure likely to be anxiety over the nausea?

hello
thanks for posting here.
your BP readings are definitely high. plus you have high cholesterol levels also. anxiety can lead to high blood pressure. since you state that you have been taking your BP recording frequentl6 for the past few hours, its evident that you are anxious. For a diagnosis of high blood pressure to be establised there must be three readings one week apart. if all these three readings are high then you need to be started in treatment. so i advice you to take three readings of your BP- one per week for three weeks and if all are persistently higher then you need to see your doctor.
please also continue taking your asthma medications
thank you
