What Causes High GGT With Weight Gain?

I have had a high ggt for the past 20 years. It has been from a low of 55 to a high of in the 300 s. It seems to go according to my weight gain or loss. I m terrified that I have some horrible disease but I feel fairly good. I m a woman, 6 feet and 185 pounds but look thin. No other liver enzymes have ever been raised until the last bloodwork several months ago and alt is 46. I have been on vicodan for the last 15 or 16 years, 4 a day. 10/325

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your main concern is regarding elevated ggt. The ggt elevated when bile canaliculi get damaged.

So you can investigate with ultrasonography of abdomen for further workup to rule out fatty liver or gall stone. Kindly revert back with reports once done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
