What Causes Heavy Periods With Pain And Cramping?

I had my tubes tied in 2007. In the last year, my period has gotten heavier and heavier. I pass large blood clots every month, they are larger than silver dollars and come frequent. In the last week my left side near end of my c section scar is hurting and cramping and my insides hurt. I have only slept with my husband and he has had no other partners.

Hallow Dear,

Since your symptoms of heavy menses with abdominal pain have started after your abdominal surgery for tubal ligation, the possibility seems to be of pelvic infection leading to chronic pelvic inflammation with or without adhesions in the pelvis.

Such inflammation causes heavy menses and leads to pain also. It is likely that you may be having some discomfort during intercourse also. This condition will have to be treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicines. However, if the adhesions in the abdominal cavity are causing problem, you may have to undergo adhesiolysis by surgical intervention.

Pain in the left iliac region are suggestive of formation of mass (tubo-ovarian mass) by the side of the uterus.

Please report to your Gynaecologist.
